Arkadi Lavoie Lachapelle Entitled I Love You the Way You Hate, this project reinterprets the slogan “I love myself the way I am”. Well-used in marketing campaigns targeting women to sell products and ideologies related to well-being, that sentence often brushes off the question “Who do I love?”.

Geneviève Amyot Fear, especially its confrontation, is at the heart of Geneviève Amyot’s work and most of all in "Nous sommes beaucoup qui avons peur", published posthumous in 20031 by Éditions du Noroît. In this text, the author reveals the valves of the fear – of her personal fears and our common fears – inviting us to a meeting with ourselves, without the possibility of escape, to confront the repressed fear that contains us all.

Viviane Namaste Ten slogans invite readers to understand better the neighbourhood in which the road sign is situated: its history, its artists, its ethnocultural communities, its workers, its forgotten traces. The statements seek to make visible forgotten elements of everyday life in Quartier des spectacles: the popular singer, Aboriginal art, the demolition of social housing, the closure of a middle eastern grocery store…

MAUDE S. PILON Maude S. Pilon will host several public readings of her text instructions inhospitalières (Inhospitable Instructions), in the presence of patients and medical staff. These readings, which intend to create confrontations between the textual and the real, will take place in the upcoming months of December and January, in the waiting rooms, in the corridors, in the entrances, elevators, cafeterias, patients' rooms and doctors' offices of the Hôtel-Dieu, Notre-Dame and Saint-Luc CHUM hospitals in Montréal.

MANUELA LALIC Manuela Lalic uses the fundamental contradictory similarities of snow and polystyrene in order to immerse herself in the public space with humour. She tries to understand her relationship to sculpture in the public space by focusing her attention on its limitative aspects (politics, security, material durability) and, at the same time, trying to integrate herself in it, like an unknown object.

SYLVIE LALIBERTÉ Sylvie Laliberté started her practice doing performance in 1985, and then extended it to video and writing. Her work has been presented in different national and international galleries. In her videos, the artist questions the frame, the gesture, the relationship of the body to the camera, autorepresentation, sense of space, fiction and parody. Narration, humour and the narrator’s role are essential elements of this video work that is meant to be subjective and post-feminist. The works of Sylvie Laliberté are a testimony that the critical dimension of feminism can be integrated to the creative process (without denying its specific nature) and allow the presence of an active, conscious and imaginative individual. Connections with the domestic environment and existential preoccupations are explored when the electronic medium integrates the performative capacities of the subject. To this day, the artist has published two books: Je suis formidable mais cela ne dure jamais très longtemps (2007) and Quand j’étais italienne (2013).

CALL FOR PROPOSALS 2014 To local, non-local and international artists, DARE-DARE has the pleasure of presenting this call for submissions for its 2014 programming. This year, in response to appalling current events, DARE-DARE is looking for projects which frighten: fear of oneself or of others, of rejection and of emptiness, of lie or debate. Fear to disturb or fail, of oblivion or silence, of being fooled – spied on – trapped – misunderstood, of not being able to understand. Scared of the night, of disappearing, of an attack, of repression, of crowds, gluten and spiders …
