GIORGIA VOLPE For her participative project, she chose to install a patio swing on the site of DARE-DARE. This emblematic object of popular culture becomes here a friendly platform of investigation on dialogue and intersubjectivity. Throughout this installation in Saint-Henri, this patio swing will be perpetually transformed and will undergo multiple mutations before returning to the backyard in the Villeray district, where it comes from.

JOHN BOYLE-SINGFIELD This project is the result of a long reflexion on the relationship between repetition, performance and language. It is about organizing a performance in collaboration with a group of performers that will undertake many distinct actions in public space. Each of these actions will be repeated seven times a day in the same spot during the week. With Adriana Disman, Anastasia Ferguson, Steven Girard, Francisco Gonzales Rosas, Manoushka Larouche, Fanny Latreille, Helena Martin Franco and Victoria Stanton.

GUILLAUME LA BRIE The starting point of the artwork is to locate urban furniture elements that are damaged in order to perform «repairs» on them. This operation initiates an artistic gesture where the repairing partly dictates the choice of shapes, scales and materials. The objective is to position my sculptures as prostheses replacing the missing or broken parts of selected objects.

MARION LESSARD From one word and its definition, Marion Lessard forms the poetical anagram of another word and its definition, which then take the place of the official ones, and so on, indefinitely, in a long chain of subversion. The aim is both poetic and playful: to insert within the Reference some Irreverence, to agitate the means of meaning. At the end of this extensive project, a whole new dictionary will materialize, which will yet be the same (understood as the sum of its letters).

Watching the Apple Trees Blossom (le début est la fin d’un cycle continu) And what about bringing this quest into an art context? The opportunity to embark on this slippery, if not contradictory task (that of Doing Nothing) within the frame of DARE-DARE’s mandate became an instance of prolonged embodied research into the more imperceptible areas of art-making and artistic process. Exploring the invisible, liminal spaces in art has been a long-standing preoccupation of mine, and The Sanctimonious Sect of Nothing Is Sacred became an invaluable container, and occasion, within which to delve even more deeply into this burgeoning area of performative practice.

TALKING ABOUT NOTHING WITH... Sylvie Tourangeau “What are the ways in which free time infiltrates our body? Free time: a notion… a sensation… a parallel universe… a practice… an SOS…”. Revisiting her residency project titled Temps libre, carried out two years ago at 3e impérial artist-run centre in Granby, QC, Sylvie is proposing a collective moment of free time at DARE-DARE.
