Démarche

In her practice Aurélie Pedron explores the connection between the body and the object and develop a reflection on the relationship to the public and to the place. So, she directs her research more and more to the installation and the performance. Aurélie likes making links between body and space, body and music, body and light so that all of them show themselves mutually. Inspired by the philosophy of the butô body, the choreographer looks for a movement closer to a physical presence than any aesthetic shape.

Aurélie Pedron moved to Montreal in 1999. Initially holding a bachelor's degree in dance at UQAM, she then completed in 2013, a research/creative master's degree on "Emergence in creation or the anti-heroism of the creator".

In her early years, she produced more than 10 video works, shown in more than 14 countries: in Asia (Japan, India, South Korea, Taiwan...), Europe (France, Great Britain, Germany...), South America (Brazil), Russia and the United States. However, the stage remains of fundamental importance and the choreographer focuses her research on the relationship between the body and materials. Her solos have been presented at Tangente, Studio 303, SAT, Ateliers Jean-Brillant and Blinding Light in Vancouver.

With the creation of CHAIR, in 2011, Aurélie Pedron combines, through the closed circuit, the stage and video. With the creation of Corps Caverneux (supported and presented by Tangente and Danse-Cité in 2013), she continues her quest for an encounter between body and light. She has also collaborated with the theater company Odelah Creation as a performer and video artist. In April 2013, she founded her creation company Lilith & Cie, with which she explores the permeability of materials and the privileged relationship to the spectator that nano-performance offers. Her work was recently presented at the Festival de Théâtre de Rue de Lachine, as well as at the FNC.

Aurélie Pedron is currently working on two new projects. ENTRE is a nano-performance on the theme of the encounter, it will be presented at Tangente during the 2014/15 season.
