SUMMER ART DAY CAMP

Scrolling history

The art day camp project "DÉFILER L'HISTOIRE" wishes to celebrate the heritage and history of the St-Henri district, so that it can be made known to the children through three creative workshops led by professional artists Christine Comeau, Noémi McComber and Martin Dufrasne.

PARADER SON PATRIMOINE

This creative workshop consists of making models of emblematic historic buildings of the borough. They have been chosen by the children, following an investigation based on their knowledge of the neighborhood and the presentation of a slide show.

Flags and Banners

In this series of workshops, participants were led to explore their identification with the territory and to discover, reveal and invent signs, symbols and identity markers through a series of practical exercises, oriented around graphic and plastic creation.

WANDERING STORIES

Throughout the week, Accacia, Koralie, Nicolas and Erwan exercised their talents and set free their imagination to design colourful costumes, totemic creatures and nomadic shelters.

Each week, the children explored the production of costumes and banners in the effigy of the neighborhood and its architectural heritage. The children were then invited to dress in their creation to participate in the great PARFILER STORY parade that took place on September 30, 2017.

Week A: Wandering Tales
July 24, 2017 - July 28, 2017

In this workshop, children will explore textiles through sewing and arranging various motley materials. They will create costumes related to the themes of nomadism, mobility, quest, and the physical and mental boundaries created by displacement. The clothing sculptures or nomadic sculptures will become places of exchange and discussion.

Week B: Flags and Banners
July 31, 2017 - August 4, 2017

In this series of workshops, participants will be led to explore their identification with the territory and to discover, reveal and invent signs, symbols and identity markers through a series of practical exercises oriented around graphic and plastic creation. Group workshops of performative creation will complete the program in order to orchestrate the final presentation of the projects.

Week C: Parading your heritage
August 7, 2017- August 11, 2017

This creative workshop will consist of making scale models of iconic historic buildings in the borough. These will be chosen by the children, following a survey based on their knowledge of the neighborhood and a slide show presentation. These cardboard models will then be fixed on a pole and paraded in a procession, like illustrious characters of their district.
