Borders seperate us. Borders divide us. Borders bring us together. Borders belong to us. Be they geographical, cartographic, political, linguistic, ethnic, social, economical, cultural, they are infinite, but not indefinite.
The visual and sound interventions in Viger Square, will act as clues for the exploration of the various borders throughout the city. In July, from Wednesdays to Saturdays, (1PM-4PM), the artist proposes motorized tours starting from Viger Square during which visitors will be invited to create poetical markings by the casting of words through the citys borders. The number of passengers per trip is limited. Please reserve by calling 878-1088. Every Wednesday of July, weather permitting, nightly observations will be held at Jarry Park. Rendez-vous by 11PM in front of the police station #31, 7920 St-Laurent Blvd (in front of Villeray Street (metro de Castelnau or bus 55).
Rose-Marie Ekemberg Goulet has created many public art works, including Nef pour quatorze reines, commemorating the École polytechniques tragedy. During the Summer of 2000, the artist presented Droit de passage, passage protégé, on the corner of Guy and Sainte-Catherine Streets. This temporary installation celebrated the universal rights of pedestrians. She is currently developping two public art projects and, along with various authors and the help of Éditions CDD-3D, is preparing a publication.
