Carl Trahan

June 26, 2013 - September 3, 2013

For the Écritures publiques project, Carl Trahan decided to work with a selection of texts referring to the mass and the crowd. This initiative is motivated by the location of the proposed support (in the town’s center, nearby a subway station, in front of a busy bus stop). Moreover, the type of quotes that he uses are from varied purposes (posters, cards, internet posts, etc.) and, their meaning can sometimes deviate –maybe melt– according to their context. The context here tends towards promotion: indeed, the adjectives and adverbs inserted throughout the quotes come from a list of words most frequently used in advertising.

Each text is made of a quote (in lowercase) dealing with the crowd or the mass, and of adjectives and adverbs (in capital letters) taken from the advertising vocabulary.
