Yves Gendreau (Granby) installed a construction sign without any inscription on a vacant lot in the Montreal business center. With the help of three "fake workers" recruited via a classified ad, parasitic elements (scaffolding, ropes, pulleys, trestles, construction stakes, etc...) gradually invaded the site. This last one quickly became a disturbing element in the regulated daily life of the usual passers-by. When they asked Gendreau about the nature of this construction, he asked them to fill out a survey asking what they wanted to see erected on the site. In the gallery space, Gendreau set up his contractor's office and showroom where visitors could consult plans, specifications, models, surveys and sketches, an almost obsessive documentation of this "evolving construction site."

Yves Gendreau has been particularly active in special events and symposia. These include the 2nd Symposium en arts visuels de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue, the Critérium symposium at the Centre d'Arts d'Orford, as well as his participation in the two L'Art et L'Eau in Granby produced by the 3e Impérial, an artist-run center where he has been for thirteen years. He also acted as artist and coordinator for the publication Effet de Lieu, une Non-Exposition, produced by this center.
