My creative projects question, through a reflection on inhabiting, the [so-called] boundaries between public and private space, identity and otherness, intimate territory, and social fabric, as well as the forces at work in the act of inhabiting.

Geneviève Thibault
Born in Matane, Geneviève Thibault chose to study photography, native studies, and ethnology to reflect on inhabiting and its issues. She has received grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec and is a 2019 winner of the Prix international des Nouvelles Écritures (Freelens, France). Her photographic projects have been shown in events and solo exhibitions in Quebec and Ontario. Since integrating writing into her practice during the 2021 confinement, her poetry and critical texts have been published by Le Sabord, Esse, Espace art actuel, Centre VU and Presses de l'Université du Québec. She teaches photography at the Cégep de Matane while pursuing a master's degree in art practice at the Université du Québec en Outaouais.
