Janick Burn

Janick Burn is an artist, curator and author. Originally from the Outaouais/Anishinabewaki region, she has lived in Montréal/Tio'tia:ké for several years. Her practical and theoretical research focuses on the relationship between body and frame, which she addresses through a reflexive approach to performance, image and writing. More recently, she has taken an interest in self-publishing as an artistic practice and alternative mode of exhibition.

Most recently, she organized the group exhibition Exposer avec l'autoédition to expose the self, which was presented at the AdMare artist-run center (Îles-de-la-Madeleine, 2022) and at Arprim (Montreal, 2023). Her work as an artist has been seen in several performance events and exhibition venues, including Galerie de l'Université de Montréal (2020), Plein sud (Longueuil, 2019) and Musée d'art de Rouyn-Noranda (2019).

She is currently pursuing her research in the context of residencies at Est-Nord-Est (Saint- Jean-Port-Joli, 2023) and La Chambre blanche (Québec, 2024), and regularly publishes texts in contemporary art magazines.
