Lise Landry

Born in 1937 in Trois-Rivières, Lise Landry graduated from the École des beaux-arts de Montréal and holds a master’s degree in arts from UQAM. A member of Groupe Mauve—an all-women artists’ collective committed to challenging institutional structures and artistic hierarchies in Québec during the 1970s—she has developed, since the late 1960s, a distinctly hybrid practice combining drawing, painting, assemblage, and techniques drawn from textile arts. Her work explores materiality and the know-how associated with the domestic sphere, while questioning the boundaries between fine arts and so-called “minor” practices. She has presented numerous exhibitions across Québec, and her works are included in several public collections, including the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec.
